The iPhone 15 Plus, Apple’s latest flagship, has finally arrived in India, and I’ve had the pleasure of getting my hands on this device. Over the past week, we’ve seen a lot of information and analysis online about the new iPhones following Apple’s ‘Wonderlust’ event. However, after spending the last few days testing these devices firsthand, I can confidently say that the new iPhone experience is truly unique when you hold it in your hands.
I recently had the opportunity to interact with two iPhones: the iPhone 15 Plus and the iPhone 15 Pro. In this piece, I’ll share my initial thoughts on the iPhone 15 Plus. If you’re curious about my early impressions of the iPhone 15 Pro, you can find that here.
The iPhone 15 Plus retains a design somewhat similar to its predecessor, the iPhone 14 Plus, with a few subtle changes. The most noticeable change is the introduction of the Dynamic Island, which replaces the notch. This pill-shaped cutout houses the front-facing camera and Face ID sensors. It’s more compact than the notch and displays various information like navigation, media controls, and more
Apple has also introduced a fresh palette of colors for the iPhone 15 Plus, including pastel pink, blue, green, yellow, and black. These colors are livelier and more playful compared to the typical Pro iPhone hues, with pink and green standing out prominently.
Display with 2,000 Nits Brightness
While the iPhone 15 Plus retains the same 6.7-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display as its predecessor, there have been improvements. The display is now brighter, with a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, making it more visible in direct sunlight. Additionally, it offers enhanced HDR performance.
Seamless Performance with A16 Bionic Chip
The iPhone 15 Plus is powered by the all-new A16 Bionic chip, which surpasses the speed of the A15 Bionic chip found in the iPhone 14 models. The A16 Bionic chip equips the iPhone 15 Plus with remarkable speed and responsiveness, effortlessly handling even the most demanding tasks.
Camera and Battery Life
The iPhone 15 Plus features a brand-new 48MP primary camera, a significant upgrade from the 12MP main camera in the iPhone 14 Plus. This camera captures sharper and more detailed photos, especially in low-light conditions. The device also boasts a new 12MP ultrawide camera and a 12MP front-facing camera.
With a larger battery than its predecessor, the iPhone 15 Plus promises extended battery life. After several days of usage, I’ve consistently enjoyed over a day of battery life on a single charge.
Overall Impressions
In summary, the iPhone 15 Plus has made a strong impression on me. It’s a fantastic phone with a plethora of compelling features. The Dynamic Island design is a refreshing change, and the display is exceptional. The A16 Bionic chip delivers outstanding speed, and the camera quality has seen significant improvements. Battery life is also commendable.
If you’re in the market for a new iPhone, the iPhone 15 Plus is a highly appealing option. It’s a well-rounded device that offers an array of impressive features.
